I honestly don't think I could've been happier

I've had many happy moments in my life, particularly in the past year, but this picture really encapsulates a perfect moment. I'm an animal lover and elephants are truly my favourite. The love affair began when I was two and spotted a herd at Kruger Park. I was MOST put out that my parents didn't agree to getting me an ellie as a pet.

Visiting the elephant sanctuary outside of Plett has been on my wishlist for some time. Last week my husband and I spent four nights in Wilderness to celebrate our anniversary. It was pure bliss and the highlight - walking trunk-in-hand with an African elephant named Thandi.

I've looked up what elephants represent as clearly they're a strong symbol for me. I read some interesting results.

Ah Maldives, you're so pretty

My husband was obsessed with going to the Maldives - he was weirdly concerned about the islands sinking and the fact that we'd miss out on visiting them.

It was amazing. Some happy snaps...

Sigh... fond memories

Not a great way to start a blog - one post and then completely abandon it. I can't help focusing on the fact that a year ago I was on honeymoon, which was definitely the best holiday I've ever been on. We flew to Venice, then travelled to Florence and Rome. From Rome we flew to the Maldives for 7 days of tropical paradise.

I took this photo while walking to our hotel on our last day in Rome. It's quite melancholy, but I still love this picture.

It's been a year...

Today I've officially been married for a year. I had great ideas of starting a blog to document our first year of marriage, but the past year has been a blur. These are some of my favourite photos from the day.
